JBS invests R $105 million in packaging production inside SP

SÃO PAULO (Reuters)-JBS, the largest meat producer in the world, will invest about 100 million reais in the construction of a metal packaging factory and in the modernization of its unit in Lins, in the interior of Paulista. Of this total, about 80 million go to the new factory, which will produce cans of steel and aluminum. The start of the operation is scheduled for the first half of 2020. The unit will have three production lines and will be geared towards the domestic market. "With the inauguration of the plant, we will expand our production capacity of aerosols to more than 220 million packages per year and with the entry into the aluminum packaging segment, focusing on the cosmetics market as deodorants," said the director of JBS Metal Packaging, Marcelo Jorcovix. "The expansion of the business through the diversification of segments and product portfolio will help us in the process of adding value to the company," added the executive. The unit will invest another 25 million reais in the expansion of lithographic capacity and modernization of the production lines of the Lins unit. The new equipment, using German and Swiss technologies, will be operational by the end of 2019.
