Retail activity Grew 2.8% in 2018

Retail grew 2.8% in 2018, according to the National Confederation of managers and Shopkeepers (CNDL) and credit protection service (SPC Brazil). This is the best result since 2014, when trading activity rose 2.2%. According to CNDL, the index confirms the trend of resumption of retail and the economy. The turnover was unable, however, to achieve the pre-crisis levels. "The improvement of the levels of confidence and the climate of optimism for a resumption of the economy helped boost retail activity," says the Chief Economist of the SPC Brazil, Marcela Kawauti.
