Ahlstrom-Munksjö Brazil develops new Ultralightweight paper special paper for the pharmaceutical industry

In order to offer the pharmaceutical industry a line of ultralightweight paper specialty papers, the Ahlstrom-Munksjö-global leader in fiber-based materials has expanded in Brazil your family of specialty papers for printing to bulls of medicine. The new role of this product line, called PrintClassic Thin Paper 45 g/m2, has as main characteristic the non shedding of dust during the printing process and also during the packaging of medicines, and is a result of the work of local development of Ahlstrom-Munksjö plays in creating special products to meet their customers in key issues for the improvement of your business. With weights ranging from 45 g/m ², 50 g/m ² and 56 g/m ², these special roles favor the better graphics and productivity of the pharmaceutical industry, for permit printing of bulls of medicine with very low powder residue and high stability technical specification. These two factors allow less cleaning and maintenance stops in graphic, ensuring greater stability and more speed in the printing process. The very low dust detachment has a positive impact also on the pharmaceutical industry, since it avoids contamination of the process. Luciano Neves, Director of sales and Marketing for Latin America of the Ahlstrom-Munksjö, explains that the solution was developed after the company assess the difficulties faced by pharmaceutical laboratories and to find a local dealer able to offer a line of papers that provide increased productivity and better results under the environmental aspect. Besides, he adds, that also meets the technical specifications necessary for printing leaflets of medicine, such as mechanical strength, low dust, low shedding weight, thickness and excellent printing control in both sides. "The proximity to the everyday life of our customers allows us to meet your needs, map problems and to identify opportunities to improve processes, avoid bottlenecks and propose solutions that assist in their business objectives," says Nair. To this end, the Ahlstrom-Munksjö has a team of specialists, including engineers, chemists and laboratory technicians to support this development. In more complex situations, it is not possible to perform the tests in Brazil, they may count on the support of two other research centers of the company, located in France, and in which work approximately 100 employees, PhDs in various specialties. "Some developments may take a long time to be finalized, but, in this case, in just three months, we were able to present a robust solution and fully adequate to what the client needed", says the Director. The new roles are already being produced by the factory of the Ahlstrom-Munksjö, located in Jacareí (SP), which has an installed capacity of approximately 105,000 tons a year, of which approximately 55% are uncoated papers and the remaining 45% are coated paper L1.
