Intention of buying durable goods until September is 1%

The index of consumers who want to make a purchase of durable goods during the period from July to September 2018 is 1% in retail. The data are part of the survey conducted by the Brazilian Institute of Retail executives and Consumer Market (Ibevar), in partnership with the Retail Management program (Prove) E-bit and Epistemycs. According to the President of the Ibevar, Prof. Claudio Felisoni, it is possible to perceive a insecurity in purchase intent because people are fearful in compromising the budget with extra expenses. "The high-dollar, mistrust with regard to employment, the uncertain electoral scenario, the high interest rates and inflation are factors that directly affect that decision," he explains. Already the prediction of consumer purchase intent for the third quarter is 88.90%, best result presented in three years, showing a recovery in economic confidence, despite the uncertainties of an election year. In this regard, there was an increase of 5.2% compared with the same period in 2017.
