CADE authorizes participation of International Paper on merger of Suzano and fiber

Administrative Council for economic Defense (Cade) accepted International Paper's request to participate as a third interested in the process that examines the merger of Suzano Papel e Celulose and Fibria, according to order published in the Official Gazette of the On Tuesday Union (24). International Paper, based in the United States, that operates in the segments of pulp, printing and writing paper, packaging and forest activity, claimed that their activities can be affected by the operation, including your relationship with the Company in the municipality of Três Lagoas (MS). Cade gave 15 days deadline for the company to produce documents and information to the process. Cade, however, rejected the request of grupo Royal Golden Eagle (GER) to join as interested parties, claiming that the company did not substantiate your interest in business. The Group owns Bracell, which has activity in Bahia. "The RGE didn't bring the record biggest reasons and justifications that could corroborate your legitimate interest in enable as third interested", said the General Superintendence of the Cade in opinion. The Union between Fibria and Suzano, for the creation of the world's largest pulp producer, was announced in March. The operation has already been approved by antitrust authorities of the United States.
