Burst index in supermarkets comes to 10.29%

The index of rupture in the supermarkets, which measures lack of products on the shelves, reached 10.29% in January, according to figures from 2018 Neogrid/Nielsen obtained based on 10000 drive industry shops throughout the country. Last December, the indicator was 10.11%, keeping the average stable already flagged in the second half of last year, when ranged from 10.22% in June, to 10.51 percent in November. Neogrid research/Nielsen reveals that in 2017 the milk long life was the item with the highest break in supermarkets, with 15.3%. The list is completed with beers (14.2%), ice cream (12.8%), fresh chicken (12.1%) and sodas (11.5%). For Robson Munhoz, the Vice President of operations of the Agentrics, industry and retailers are still trying to understand and deal with consumer choices, what influences. "In 2017, with the crisis, there was the replacement of products commonly consumed by other lower-priced brands, but you do not have a sales history relevant to be replaced often. This probably kept the scorecard still considered high, "argues the Executive. Munhoz also highlights that the promotions without predictions assertive, commercial ties in negotiations with suppliers – who were more contentious argument and time consuming, generating a lack of certain products in stores for long periods, and the increase in the volume of purchases by retail to improve the break, were taken from the economic uncertainty in the country. For 2018, Robson Munhoz believes in a market more optimistic with the breaking index stable, especially with retail and industry in line to meet the demand of the families that should increase in the coming months. The stability of the break had already been flagged in the second half of last year, when the rates ranged from 10.22% in June, 10.51% from November. Brazilian industrial production ended with growth of 2.5% 2017, after three years of losses, according to the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of geography and statistics). Already the Brazilian supermarkets ' sales grew by 1.25% in real terms in the year 2017 to 2016. Only in the month of December 2017, sales soared 2.55% over the same period last year, according to Abras (Brazilian Association of Supermarkets). That means the industry and retailers were already more optimistic for the holidays. "With the resumption of confidence, the supermarket retail stores with large quantity supplied and variety of products and food, which declined by the lack of certain items," Munhoz. Neogrid Executive explains that despite the stability from the second half of the year 2017, the break is still high in comparison with historical data of 8%, considered suitable for supermarket retailers. And what are the causes of index still considered high the rupture? Munhoz explains that the reflections of the economic crisis still influence the indicator variation throughout the year of 2017. In times of crisis, according to the Executive, it is common to change in consumer habit. "With the decrease in spending of Brazilians with meals outside the home, there was an increase in demand for more items used to prepare them at home. People tend to eat more in your own home and seek more items in supermarkets, which can cause a break higher, "reports.
