Fertilizer imports rise 18% in 2017

The volume of fertilizers imported by Brazil in last year garnered 23.9 million tons, lifting GlobalFert-Portal aimed to specializing in the sector. The result represented an increase of 18% on the 20.2 million tonnes bought overseas in 2016. Considering only the month of December 2017, were landed in ports of Brazil no less than 2.3 million tonnes, which meant an increase of 30% over the month of November of the same year. According to the study of Globalfert nitrogen fertilizer imports increased 25% on that basis of comparison.
In the last month of last year were still purchased abroad 22% more phosphate fertilizers and 40% more Potassium Chloride, also in comparison with the immediately preceding month.
According to the Globalfert, the main port of entry of fertilisers in 2017 was port of Paranaguá responsible for 32%. The second-largest fertilizer importer port, with 15.3 percent of the volume, was the Rio Grande port followed by the port of Santos with 15% of the volume.

Were delivered to the Brazilian market 34,439 thousand tons of fertilizers in the past year, according to data released this week by the Anda (National Association for dissemination of fertilisers). The result represented an increase of 1% on the total of 206, when they were distributed 34,083 thousand tons of fertilizer.
Only in the last month of December were delivered 2,358 million tons of fertilizers, which meant low of 11.9% compared with the same period of the immediately preceding year (2,676 metric tons).
