Coca-Cola unifies all soft drinks bottles

Coca-Cola Brazil began selling all returnable PET bottles of its brands of soft drinks in a single format. With this, the consumer can choose to drink every time I take the empty packaging back to the point of sale. The brands Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Without sugar, grape soda, Fanta Orange, Fanta, Sprite and Guarana Guarana Jesus will use the new universal bottle, that will be of 1.5 liter and 2 liters. According to the company, each back to factory, 100% recyclable packing can be bottled and will receive a detachable paper label of any product of Coca-Cola Brazil. Until then, there was a different model of returnable bottle for each brand of soda, with its own format and label printed on a permanent basis. According to Coca-Cola, the paint applied to bottles harmed product recycling. Thus, the production lines were adapted to apply and remove paper labels with each new cycle of bottles. The new bottles are starting to hit the market in the Midwest and St. Paul in September and October. This month, they reach the Northeast. In Rio de Janeiro, the new packaging can be found from December. Within two years, all regions have the same pattern. The investment is of R $100 million. The initiative will be replicated in Latin America in countries like Argentina, Chile, Peru and Colombia. "Today we are with about 20% of our marketed volume composed of returnable packaging, and the goal is to reach 30% by 2020," said Diogo Gioia, Operations Manager of the Coca-Cola Brazil. For the increased participation of returnable bottles and universal, the company is investing in infrastructure, extension of lines, factory equipment and purchase of containers. Coca-Cola predicts that it will reach the end of five years (2016-2020) with R $1.6 billion investment to ensure the objectives of its policies, how to help collect the equivalent of 100% of packaging that puts on the market until 2030. With the returnable, annually, the company ceases to put more than 200 million of PETs on the market.
