ABPO: corrugated sale goes up 8.05% in August compared with August 2016 (preview)

São Paulo, 12-August 2017, sales of corrugated board used in packaging-boxes, accessories and plates-grew 8.05% in comparison with August 2016 and 7.66% against July 2017, to 310,331 tonnes. The data were disclosed on Tuesday, 12, the Brazilian Association of corrugated board (ABPO) and are related to the prior month--i.e., the Association will also provide an update.
In January to August 2017, corrugated cardboard sales go up 3.73%, to 2,242,000 tons. The ABPO also discloses data with seasonal adjustment, in which the expedition of August 2017 was 0.61 percent higher than July.
Second, note the result of August is the third highest of the historical series, surpassed only by volumes shipped in October 2014 and October 2013. If the comparison taking into account the seasonal adjustment, the August expedition becomes the second largest of the series, behind only the number registered in April 2013.
"Although it is premature to say that August has inaugurated a new production level, especially as economic resumption phases tend to be subject to fluctuations, the accumulated growth rate in the year becomes a more updated to the expected result to end of 2017 ", assessed the ABPO in note.
In 2017, just the month of April recorded drop in sales before 2016, of 4.33%. August was a record for the period, followed by March, when the advance was 6.88 percent against March 2016, and may, from 5.75%. The ABPO designs 2.7% growth for the year of 2017.
