Brookfield must buy Odebrecht environmental, say sources

Sao Paulo-the Canadian Brookfield Asset Management Group is close to completing the purchase of the participation of the conglomerate Odebrecht on sanitation unit Environmental assessment after months of Odebrecht, said two people with direct knowledge of the matter.
Brookfield agreed to buy the 70% which Odebrecht has the drive according to the sources, in a deal that values company at about 5 billion reais, said the sources. An announcement could happen within weeks, people said.
Brookfield was in exclusive negotiations to buy Environmental Odebrecht since May. Odebrecht declined to comment, as well as Brookfield.
Reuters reported on August 17 that Brookfield had signed a preliminary agreement to buy the Odebrecht. Was not immediately clear if the FI-FGTS also would sell the remaining 30% have in the company.
