Consumer demand for credit drops back in March, points Serasa

Consumer demand for credit fell 0.4% in March, compared with the same period last year, according to Serasa Experian. It is the seventh consecutive fall in this type of confrontation, interannual variation.
Before February, there were 8.4% high, a result that the Serasa credit to the greater number of working days in March. In the first quarter, the demand increases 1% compared with the same period in 2015, when the high was 5.9% on 2014.
The rise in unemployment, the high level of interest rates and the fall in consumer confidence are still preventing a more favorable performance of consumer demand for credit in the country, says the company.
Compared with March last year, the fall in consumer demand for credit has focused on low income. There was no indentation of 5 percent among those who earn up to 500 monthly R$ and 1.3% for those who receive between 500 and 1,000 R$ R$ per month.
Other monthly income ranges, the inter-annual variations were positive: 0.9% for high income range between 1,000 and 2,000 R$ R$; of 1.2% for the range of 2,000 to 5,000 monthly R$ R$; of 1.4% for those who receive between 5,000 and 10,000 R$ R$ per month; and 0.8% for those who earn more than 10,000 monthly R$.
In the first quarter of 2016, with the exception of the lower income band (with fall of 3.6%), the consumer credit search rose in all other income ranges compared to the first quarter of 2015: consumers with monthly income between 500 and 1,000 R$ R$ (0.5%); monthly income between 1,000 and 2,000 R$ R$ (2%); monthly income between 2,000 and 5,000 R$ R$ (2.4%); monthly income between 5,000 and 10,000 R$ R$ (2.3%) and monthly income more than 10,000 R$ (1.7%).
In March 2016, when compared with March 2015, there were falls in consumer demand for credit in the North ( -1.4%) and northeast ( -7.5%). In the other regions, the high inter-annual were: Midwest (4%); (0.8%); Southeast (1.2%).
