Motorcycle production fell 16.7 percent in January and sales retreat 18.7%, says Abraciclo

The production of motorcycles in Brazil fell 16.7 percent in January compared with the same month last year, but grew by 43.9% compared to December. Already sales decreased 18.7% compared to January 2014 and 14.9% compared with December. The data were released on Friday, 06, by the Brazilian Association of manufacturers of motorcycles, Scooters, mopeds, bicycles and similar (Abraciclo).According to the entity, 122,037 motorcycles were produced in January, up from 146,557 units in January last year and in December, 84,820 month with less days of production because of the collective vacations granted by the factories. Already the licenses totaled 108,647 units, less than the 133,632 units sold in January 2014 and than the 127,711 emplacadas in December.
Only sales of motorcycles in the wholesale (for dealers) reached 104,185 units in January, down 8.7% compared with the 114,104 bikes sold in December and take high of 0.4% over the same month of last year. Already exports decreased 73.8% compared to January 2014 and 64.1% in comparison with December, as a reflection of the crisis in Argentina. In January, 2,174 units were sold abroad.
