Traxx grows amid the Chinese crisis in the sector

Amid the market downturn, the Chinese motorcycle Traxx wait around 16% growth for this year. The company must bet on more powerful models and also the so-called "fifty", only 50 cubic centimetres.
"We sense the crisis, but with the entry of new models we will be able to increase our sales volume," said the commercial Manager of the DCI Traxx, Zoghby Koury.
A subsidiary of China South Industries Group (CSIG), one of the largest automakers in the Asian country, the Traxx assembles motorcycles in the Manaus free trade zone. According to Koury, the company's products have fair price.
"So we can maintain our level of sales," he says. Last year, the automaker sold 24 thousand units in the country. For this year, the estimate is that sales reach 28 thousand units. "The crisis affects the brand. However, we are entering new categories that should broaden our slice, "adds Koury.
He says that last year, the company's market share in Brazil, was 1.8%. For this year, it is expected to get between 2% and 2.6% market share.
"For the size of the Brazilian market, this is a very significant participation", says the Executive.
Market retracted
This year, industry sales should pull back about of 10% compared to 2014, when the market had already presented retraction. According to the Brazilian Association of manufacturers of motorcycles, Mopeds, Scooters, and Bicycles (Abraciclo), the production also should fall this year.
"The situation has been deteriorating for some time," said this week the President, principal Fermanian Landmarks. He says that the industry did not expect the performance registered so far. "Sales in August and September have been at levels that do not tried for a long time", he ponders.
According to the leader, the fall was even greater in low cylinder capacity segment, in which the purchasing power and credit approval are decisive at the time of purchasing a motorcycle. "About 80% of our sales are below 150 motorcycle BMWs," he says.
And it is exactly in this thread that the Traxx is more representative. "We work with a secured loan, and even credit card Consortium", reveals Koury.
According to him, the bikes sold by the company cost from $ 3.6 thousand and r $ 9000.
One of the models of the brand in the country, the "20", has 50 cylinder engine with appeal for low maintenance cost and fuel economy. The Traxx ensures that the five liter tank of the vehicle has autonomy of up to 200 kilometers. Another bet of the assembler for the Brazilian market is the niche of 250 cubic centimetres.
On the impact of the rising dollar on the automaker's operations, Koury asserts that the array can offset this effect. "The American currency is not as strong for us," he says.
