GM wants to suspend contract of thousand workers

GM wants to temporarily suspend the contract of employment of part of 5.3 thousand employees of the factory of São José dos Campos (SP) to adjust the production is lower demand for vehicles. The decision came shortly after the return of the collective vacations given to employees by 16 days. They returned to work on Wednesday, 23.
On Thursday, 24, the automaker informed the syndicate of the metalurgists of José dos Campos better order that intends to use the lay-off (temporary suspension of employment contracts) in the local factory. The company has not detailed how many employees would be involved in the suspension of the contract, but the Union President, Antonio Ferreira de Barros, said it would be about a thousand workers.
"There is no justification for the deployment of the lay-off," said Union President. At the factory in São José dos Campos are produced engines, transmission assemblies and vehicles and S10 Blazer, long demanded by agribusiness and that would not have registered drop in sales, said Barros.
