E-commerce can grow 30% in year

When someone clicks on a product offered in a virtual store and preview it immediately in four or more different angles, probably didn't imagine the technological tools necessary to maintain an e-commerce portal in the air. According to data from the Brazilian Association of Commerce (ABComm), there are approximately 37 thousand stores in the country in which they were closed 88.3 million operations in 2013that resulted in revenue of $ 31 billion. Taking into account the sector studies, which show that only one in ten to twelve visits result in a purchase, it can be affirmed that the national portals surpassed 1 billion visitors last year and the projection of a growth around 30% this year.
Regardless of the size of the store, the overwhelming majority of purchasing sites deposit data structures on servers installed in data centers. The decision is strategic and vital in a business model in which the speed of traffic information is just as important as the value of the brand and the customer service.
According to Marie Nelson, Chief Operating Officer of Alog, one of the largest data centers of Brazil, an e-commerce company that seeks structure for two servers, good connectivity and hosting services in data center will save 50% on you, if you choose to keep your infrastructure in their own dependencies.
Three factors ensure the advantage of a datacenter, says Mendonça. "The first is the robustness of the infrastructure to be sheltered in an environment with redundant electrical, air conditioning, fire prevention and safety of total access". The second point is the speed in connectivity, since the data center is connected with several national and international providers. And, third, to be able to count on a team of specialized professionals and accustomed to face critical situations during times of high demand of requests.
According to a survey conducted in may by the company Exceeds, specializing in web performance, the number of access to e-commerce sites peaked at 385.3 views per second in the 15 days leading up to mother's day. The study, whose data were collected from the Akamai platform, reveals that the number represents an increase of 92.65% compared to a normal day, which has, on average, 200 hits per second. The study concludes that the increase in data traffic was 16% higher than the average of a conventional day.
In addition to hiring via hosting, the company may opt for the installation of their own servers in the data center and share the network of providers and service redundancy. Known as "colocation", the model is adopted by large companies such as Clone, one of the largest sporting goods e-commerce in the world, with operations in Brazil, Argentina and Mexico. "We have our servers into two data centers from UOL Diveo. But we respond by management of the hardware, "says Rodrigo Nasser, head of strategy and innovation of the Sportsman. With about 20 million unique hits, the portal of Netshoes offers approximately 140 thousand items, each with four or five different views, which make up about 500 thousand images stored.
Today, the major shopping portals already store your content (mainly images) in the "cloud" in independent broadband networks. Mauricio Cascão, CEO of Mandic, says that with the structure of clouds, the client hires the ability according to their seasonality and avoids the risk of leaving the air in case of demand beyond the expected in strong trade dates.
For 14 years in the virtual market, the flower shop Giuliana Flores must depart for storage in "clouds" later this year, says Julian Souza, chief marketing officer. Today, the company allocates the hosting services of Alog, which "supports well" the movement of up to 25 thousand unique visits monthly periods such as Valentine's day.
