Lexmark's profit grows 12.5% and reaches $ 37.9 million

SÃO PAULO-Lexmark's profit grows 12.5% and reaches $ 37.9 million net profit of Lexmark, American print solutions company, grew 12.5% in the third quarter, as compared to the same period last year, according to balance sheet published on Tuesday, to $ 37.9 million.
The net sales of the group rose by 3.1% to $ 918,1 million, in the midst of the company's efforts to focus more on providing solutions rather than equipment sales. The billing with hardware and software — like laser printers — advanced 0.6% and reached $ 786,7 million, while with 21.4% higher was services, totaling $ 131.4 million.
"The printing services and software sales reached 20% of the total revenue. We should pass the $ 1 billion mark in sales in these areas, "explained Paul Rooke, Lexmark's Chairman, in a statement.
At the same time, the costs amounted to $ 560,8 million, up 3.3 percent on the same basis of comparison. Operating expenses rose by 5.4% to $ 302,8 million.
