Auto parts: trade deficit already totals $ 8.45 billion

The balance of trade deficit in auto parts from January to October reached $ 8.45 billion, registering high of 66.6% as compared to the same period last year. Shipments fell 5.4 percent, to $ 8.46 billion. Imports, from 162 different markets, increased 20.6% to $ 16.91 billion.
The figures were released by the National Union of the automotive vehicle components industry (Sindipeças). South America has the largest participation of Brazilian exports, with 50%. There was, however, a pullback in their growth, from 1.4% in accumulated from January to October this year. The only macro-region with high external sales was Europe, of 2.6%. The other had significant falls.
According to the Sindipeças, most Brazilian imports is divided between Asia and Oceania and Europe, representing 75% of imports. Between the macro-regions, only Africa has recorded fall (33.4%) as compared to the same period last year. The biggest growth in imports from Central America and the Caribbean, with 27.5%.
