Nestlé inaugurates Packaging Research Institute, the first of its kind in the food industry

Nestle officially inaugurated the Institute of Packaging Sciences (Institute of Packaging Sciences), the first of its kind in the food industry. The new institute allows the company to accelerate its efforts to bring to market functional solutions, safe and focused on sustainability and face the global challenge of plastic packaging waste. The initiative is an important step for the company to achieve a commitment to make 100% of its recyclable or reusable packaging up to 2025. The Institute focuses on several areas of science and technology, such as reusable packaging, simplified packaging materials, recycled packaging materials, high performance barrier papers, and biological, compostable, and Biodegradable. The center includes a state-of-the-art laboratory complex, as well as rapid prototyping facilities. In close collaboration with Nestlé 's global research and Development network, academic partners, suppliers and startups, the Institute will assess the safety and functionality of various sustainable packaging materials.
