Weak sales made in supermarkets product left in December

Christmas sales in landing short of expected meant that supermarkets had leftover products on the shelves at the end of 2016, as verified research of NeoGrid/Nielsen, who gathers information from more than 10,000 stores. The index, which identifies when a product is missing, hit the lowest level of the year in December.
After four months of consecutive high, rupture, index that measures the lack of products in supermarkets, fell. In December, the indicator registered a fall of 1.28 percent for the previous month and closed at 9.36 percent.
Supermarkets recorded a worsening in the Christmas sales in comparison with the previous year. According to the survey, there was a 7% drop in the amount of products sold, including typical items, such as Panettone, champagne and traditional Turkey.
In the food category, the break was still above average in December, at 10.07 percent. It was in the food, however, there was a further reduction of rupture compared with November: the indicator fell 1.6 percentage point a month to another.
