Sale of incandescent bulbs will be banned once by the end of the month

Incandescent bulbs will no longer be sold in Brazil from June 30. The establishments, importers and manufacturers will be monitored by the National Institute of metrology, quality and technology (Inmetro), and who does not meet the laws can be fined.
The restriction was established in a Ministerial Ordinance of 2010, which aims to minimize waste in electricity consumption. A compact fluorescent bulb saves 75% compared to an incandescent equivalent brightness. If the option is for an LED lamp, this economy rises to 85%.
The sale of incandescent bulbs started to be prohibited in Brazil in June 2012, with the exclusion of the market of lamps with power above 150 watts (W). Then there was the time between 60W and 100W lamps, in 2013. In December 2014, were replaced the 40W to 60W bulbs. The replacement process will end on 30 June of this year, with the participation of units with power less than 40W.
"The ban on the sale of incandescent bulbs in the country helps to stimulate the adoption of more durable and economical options, such as LED, already widely adopted in other countries like China, India, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Cuba, Australia, Argentina, Venezuela, in the European Union," according to the Ministry of mines and energy.
