From 2016, the Adidas group will take over the distribution rights and licensing of Reebok in Brazil and Argentina.
The decision puts an end to any possibility of renewal of the partnership between Reebok and the Vulcabrás, which held the trademark law in both countries.
Since 1992, the Vulcabrás is the official distributor and licensee of Reebok brand in Brazil.
"We had a long and successful partnership with the Vulcabrás, but now we are committed to ensuring that both brands operate under the framework of a single group," said Roland Auschel, Member of the Executive Board of Adidas AG and responsible for the overall sales of the company, in a statement.
According to the Executive, during the year of 2015 the idea is working right next to Vulcabrás to ensure delivery of consistent results in the year and a peaceful transition in early 2016.
In 2008, the two companies announced the creation of a joint venture, which had the goal of keeping the Vulcabrás as a distributor of footwear, apparel and accessories from Reebok in Brazil and in Argentina by the end of 2015.
