Brasilata program collects more than 150 thousand ideas

Designed in 1987, the simplification project, Brasilata suggestion program, ended the year of 2012 with accumulated ideas 150040, meaning an average of 152.9 ideas per employee per year.
The result surpasses the goal of 150 suggestions ideas per employee per year foreseen in the planning of the company, in accordance with his/her Balance Scorecard (BS). Even after the adjustments carried out in 2011, when a computerized system was to prevent the repetition of ideas and simpler modifications, the project has maintained its level of results.
In 2012, the simplification project celebrated their "Millionth Idea", a simple and creative suggestion, conceived by six employees. His name is easy to understand: "raising a row of cans per packet layer in small cans". This idea has generated gains of 5 thousand dollars in a year with cost reductions in secondary packaging, freight expenses and optimization of storage space.
"The millionth idea faithfully translates the spirit promoted by the simplification project," says Antonio Carlos Teixeira Alvares, CEO of Brasilata. "The company believes that small ideas have minor scratches, are easier to implement and stimulate entrepreneurship among the whole team, mobilized in the search for efficiency and better performances."
Brasilata is the largest manufacturer of steel cans in the country and has four manufacturing units-located in São Paulo (SP), Estrela (RS), Rio Verde (GO) and Recife (PE). The company employs 1 thousand employees, hired formally as inventors.
