LafargeHolcim division invests R$ 25 mi to transform waste into energy

The LafargeHolcim Group division responsible for the correct management and disposal of industrial and household waste around the world, Geocycle, invested R$ 25 million in five Brazilian cement units. In them, more than 170,000 tons of waste per year are transformed into energy and raw materials through coprocessing. In this process are also the ecological destination for oil collected on the beaches of the Northeast, which is also being transformed into energy. Brazil brings together 3% of the world's population, which generates 6.5% of the planet's waste, or waste that needs to have correct environmental disposal, according to data from the Solid Waste Panorama of the Brazilian Association of Public Cleaning and Special Waste Companies (Abrelpe) .
