Supermarket sales have real fall 0.5% in July, aims to Open

Sales of the Brazilian supermarket sector fell 0.5 percent in July, in actual values (against inflation), compared with same month of 2016, due to the slow pace of improvement in the economy, said on Thursday (31) the Brazilian Association of Supermarkets (Open).
Compared to the previous month, however, actual sales of July soared 4.21%, reported open.
By region, all areas had drop in sales. The Southeast had the largest sequential retreat, of 2.13%.
In the year to July, the National Sales Index OPEN high of 0.73%.
The authority attributed the performance impacts of macroeconomic situation in the country:
"The economic recovery is still slow, the unemployment rate, although declining, still reaches more than 13 million economically active Brazilians," said the President of Open, João Sanzovo Neto.
However, the Association plays a slight improvement for the annual results of 2017.
"For the next few months, we believe in a result greater than the accumulated so far," said Sanzovo Grandson.
