Minneapolis, 25/9 – Cargill announced, on Monday, 25, who completed the purchase of pet food business of American cooperative Southern States Cooperative. The proposal, raised in August, was completed last Friday, 22. The values and conditions, however, were not disclosed by the company.
The Southern States Cooperative, headquartered in the U.S. State of Virginia, is one of the largest in the country. The Group provides a wide range of agricultural inputs, such as fertilizer, seeds and animal feed.
According to Cargill, the purchase involved only the pet food segment, which includes seven feed mills, in addition to the portfolio of products, brands and network of relationships with customers and suppliers. The other segments of the cooperative did not part of the deal.
According to Cargill, the acquisition will be important to expand the company's operations in the Southeast, Middle Atlantic and Northeast of the United States.
