Considered one of the largest private investments in the country focusing on export, the new intermodal terminal at Fibria will strengthen logistics, diversify the economy and generate jobs and income, according to the State Government. The launch ceremony of the foundation stone took place on Thursday and was attended by the Governor of Mato Grosso do Sul, Reinaldo Azambuja, Secretary, and Executive Director of logistics and supplies of Fibria, Wellington Giacomin, and other authorities.
The intermodal terminal – which integrates various means of transport, such as road and rail-of Aparecida do Taboado (MS) is located on BR 158 and will have the ability to drain 1.95 million tons of pulp per year. The completion of the works is scheduled for July 2017. The entry into operation of the second line of Fibria''s pulp production in Três Lagoas (MS) is scheduled for the beginning of the fourth quarter of this year.
"The Company has been doing your homework when investing in practices that combine growth with sustainable regional development. This work is an example of this. The rail modal represents greater economic attractiveness and less environmental impact. Fibria''s investment in the new Intermodal Terminal of Aparecida do Taboado is within the global investment volume of the project Horizon 2, R$ 7.5 billion. The terminal will follow the default Terminal structural integrators from other regions of Brazil, which act as poles load concentrators, increasing agility with the use of railways broad gauge type (structure of Rails that allows cars and trafeguem locomotives with a top speed).
"The Company seeks constant improvement in their processes to ensure operational excellence. We''re taking another step to strengthen the competitive advantage of our integrated logistics. The structure of the new terminal was designed to increase agility in production, providing cost savings and efficiency in the process, "says Wellington Giacomin, Executive Director of logistics and supplies of Fibria.
Aligned to the social development strategy of Fibria, the construction of the terminal will generate 220 jobs, between direct and indirect, for the duration of the works. In operation, the Terminal will strengthen the logistical corridor in Aparecida in the Midwest.
