Profit of 98.7% collapses in Retail Via Q1

The operating results of the company responsible for the administration of Casas Bahia and Pontofrio, measured by Ebitda (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization), totaled 112 R$ million between January and March, 78.3% decline compared to the previous year. The Ebitda margin fell 7.2 percentage points to 2.4%.
NET Via Retail in the period fell 12.7 percent, to 4.7 billion R$.
According to the company, the January sales reflected strong basis for comparison. The route also closed shops considered Retail of low performance.
The company said have implemented sales campaigns and, although the profit margin fell, the market share has gone up.
