Production of beer and soft drinks falls in February, points Sicobe

The production of beer decreased by 2.9% in February, compared with the same month of 2015, to 1.125 billion liters, according to data from the control system production of beverages (Sicobe), the internal revenue service.
On the same basis of comparison, the manufacture of soft drinks fell 6 percent to 1.116 billion liters.
In the first two months of this year, beer production totaled 2.42 billion litres and that of soft drinks totaled 2.33 billion liters. The retraction was 1.7% and 8.9% over same period in 2015, respectively.
The indentation in the production of beer reflects the time worse, with macroeconomic fall of income and rising unemployment. The increase in the rate of GST in ten States also contributes to the retraction, as it results in increase of consumer prices.
Soft drinks, in turn, have lost space for healthier drinks with less sugar.
