Discovered bacterium capable of ingesting PET

Tests confirm removal of scrap bottles in six weeks by Microbe
The discovery of a bacterium able to eat and metabolize PET was featured on the March 11 Edition of the journal Science last entity, American Association for the Advancement of Science (American Association for the advancement of science). Second was released, the bacterium Ideonella sakaiensis 201-F6 destroys bottles through the action of two enzymes-PETase and MHETase-which promote hydrolysis of PET and, in immediate reaction, purified Terephthalic acid polymer composition member. The performance was assessed in a recycling of post consumer bottles in Osaka, Japan. Based on experience with 250 samples of this waste collected in Ideonella sakaiensis Japanese showed conditions to eliminate the environment of polyester scrap in about six weeks. According to the Science article, the discovery requires more evaluations to check the effective performance of the new Microbe to reinforce the fight against pollution caused by the disposal of plastic in the environment.
