The producer price index rises 0.31% in June compared with may, says IBGE

The producer price index (PPI) surged from 0.31% in June, reported on Wednesday (29), the Brazilian Institute of geography and statistics (IBGE). In may, the rate stood at +0.12 percent, according to revised data today (+0.15% in reading).
With the result announced today, the indicator accumulates high of 2.93% on year and 6.56% in 12 months.
The IPP measures the evolution of prices of products in the "factory gate", without taxes and freight, 23 sectors of manufacturing industry.

High of 0.31% of the producer price index (PPI) in June spread to 15 of 23 surveyed activities, according to the Brazilian Institute of geography and statistics (IBGE). The main positive impact came from other chemicals, which were 4.35% more expensive compared to last month and contributed 0.47 percentage point to the overall result.
The rise of 2.74% pulp and paper prices, the second most intense between the segments, also accounted for a considerable share of the IPP (0.10 percentage point). Only two negative impacts the index slowed down because the outcome in June.
In the metals, prices retreated 3.56% last month, which gave a -0.29 percentage point impact the general rate. In addition, the segment of computers, electronic and optical products recorded a fall of 2.67%, with contribution of -0.07 pp.
Although with less influence on the index, also had significant price increase in the other transportation equipment (1.11%), wood (0.71%), metal products (0.67%) and manufacture of machinery and equipment (0.59%).
Against the grain, were cheaper to manufacture of garments ( -2.73%), pharmaceuticals ( -0.79%) and electrical machinery and equipment ( -0.63%).
High of 6.56 percent in the producer price index (PPI) in 12 months up to June this year is identical to that observed in may 2014 and the biggest since April last year, when the increase was 7.10 percent, according to the IBGE.
