Cookies and pasta industry register

The industry of cookies, pasta, breads and cakes recorded stability in sales volume in the first half, compared to the same period in 2014. The previous analysis was performed by ABIMAPI (Associação Brasileira das Indústrias de Biscuits, pasta and breads & Industrialized Cakes).
The causes for stability would be to reduce the costs of families with food away from home and, as a result, the migration of these expenses for the domestic consumption. If it wasn't for this change of behavior of the Brazilian, sales of these products could not have presented positive variation.
For Claudio Zanão, Chief Executive of the Association, "it occurs mainly in the segment of pasta, such as spaghetti, which offers a good cost-benefit for the consumer." The industry should present a positive variation of revenues in the first half, because of the inflation for the period, according to Zanão.
The highs costs, caused by high energy and dollar, for example, were passed on to the final price by manufacturers. "Half of the wheat consumed is imported and therefore has the price sheet," said the President. Last year, the segment made $ 32.2 billion, a nominal advancement of 11%.
