Anvisa Prevents Sale of olive oil La Española

In resolution No. 1,807, published this Wednesday (24/06) in the Official Gazette, the national health surveillance Agency (Anvisa) banned the distribution and marketing of lots 28913 (val.: 10/31/2015) and 03114 (val.: 1/1/2016) of the product extra virgin olive oil, La Española mark. The product manufactured by Cargill Agrícola S.A. presented unsatisfactory results in the fatty acids, according to a Fiscal Analysis Report issued by Instituto Adolfo Lutz.

About the publication in the Official Gazette on the Anvisa decision to interrupt the marketing of lots No. 28913 (val. 10/31/2015) and no. 03114 (val. 1/1/16) of olive oil La Española (manufactured by Acesur company) Cargill reports that is product marketer in the country and is accompanying the decision to ask for further clarification and take appropriate action.
The lots meet fully the identity standard and quality of olive oil and its physical and chemical requirements for the product. The amount of poly-unsaturated fats, given voluntarily informed on the label, can vary according to the harvest of olives.
All other lots of branded product were not affected by the said interruption and are able to free marketing.
The company reiterates its commitment to full compliance with the Brazilian legislation, as well as compliance with all standards of food safety and standards of hygiene and quality.
