Premium segment profit of Ambev's recipe

Premium and craft beers and malt-based drinks are the recipe for growth of Ambev. The profit in the first quarter of the year, amounted to 2.97 billion reais, up 14% over the same period in the previous year.
In Brazil, even though the sales volume grew only 0.4 percent in the first quarter of 2015, compared with the same period last year, revenues rose by 10.7%.
Beverages of higher added value, although they are more expensive to be produced, have a final average price higher.
"The price [of the premium segment] influences the revenue growth," said the Chief Financial Officer and investor relations officer, Nelson Jamel, highlighting the growth of Budweiser.
The recent releases are an example of premium focus, such as the Skol Beats Senses, beer-based beverage that can be mixed with ice.
Last year, Ambev acquired Wäls mining. The deal gave the company its first handcrafted beer, a path she was opening with the launch of Bohemia, the Jabutiba Reserve, the beautiful Pink and Caá-Yari.
Another highlight is the Corona, Mexican beer thrown at the end of last year. From March, she spent being sold in specific points of sale.
With the joint venture with Whirlpool in March this year, Ambev plans to create non-alcoholic drinks that can be made at home. "In the future, the Guaraná Antarctica can be prepared at home, on machine b. Blend," said Jamel.
Despite the development of different products, "haven't we left in our business, that's beer", assures the Chief Financial Officer.
According to him, "we seek to address the needs of consumers who are not satisfied by the traditional beers" with flavors more sweetened, which remember giveaways or cocktails.
For this year, the company did not comment on the possibility of purchases from other craft breweries, as he did with Wäls last year.
"We believe that we have a portfolio of strong brands and we intend to launch our products, even" says Jamel.
