AmBev invests R $ 708,3 million in the Uberlandia brewery in 2014

By the end of 2014 Ambev invested r $ 708,3 million in brewery in Uberlândia, Triângulo Mineiro. Dedicated exclusively to the production of beers, the plant has the capacity to produce 5.8 million hectolitres of beer per year. This investment is part of the company's strategy to increase operational efficiency and productivity in Brazil. In 2015, plus r $ 25 million will be allocated to the unit.
Following the renewal of the industrial park plan, the production of the Ambev brewery of what was going on at that Range, the Federal District, was transferred to the new mining and brewery to brewery in the city of Anápolis (Goiás). The unit of the Range produced 400 thousand hectolitres of beverages a year. This volume was all absorbed by the breweries of Uberlândia and Annapolis which together have the capacity to produce 13.8 million hectolitres of beverages a year.
Ambev's investments in Brazil in recent years were focused mainly on capacity expansion and modernization of its production. Last year, the increase in the country's record, reaching r $ 3.1 billion. From 2010 to 2014, Ambev invested r $ 12.6 billion in Brazil.
"Productivity has always been among our main focuses of work. Over the past few years, we have promoted a strong upgrade and modernization of our breweries. The expansions and the new breweries we build are just born more efficient with what is most modern in terms of equipment and infrastructure, "says Flavio Torres, Vice President industrial Ambev.
With the new plant, Ambev has four breweries in the State of Minas Gerais. The other three are located in the towns of Sete Lagoas, Count and Juatuba. The brewery of Uberlândia employs today 436 employees own. During the construction works the company came to hire more than 2 thousand workers. According to study by the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV), for each direct job created in a brewery, 52 others are created throughout the production chain. The production of beer of Uberlândia is distributed to the markets of Minas Gerais, Distrito Federal, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, and São Paulo.
The brewery of Uberlândia produces the brands Skol, Brahma and Budweiser and has three production lines, being two to glass bottles and one for cans. In addition to the four breweries, Ambev maintains eight direct distribution centres and 25 dealers in the State of Minas Gerais. In total, the company employs 3.3 million people directly in the State, where it generates approximately 90 000 indirect and induced jobs throughout its production chain, from production to sale to the final consumer. Over the past four years, the company has invested 1.7 billion reais in the mining territory. Only in 2014, the company generated $ 2.1 billion in taxes in the State.
Another part of the production of Ambev that occurred in the plant of Range (DF) was transferred to the Brewery Company of Anápolis in Goiás. The brewery passed goiana by successive processes of expansion and modernization from 2010, receiving 448.6 million reais in investments in four years. Currently, this Brewery has a capacity to produce 8 million hectolitres of beverages a year. Since the expansion began, the production capacity of the brewery of Annapolis grew 63.8%. In 2010, the brewery employed 580 people. Today there are 800 employees, an increase of 37.9%.
Before the expansion works, the brewery in Annapolis produced drinks in 12 types of packaging. Now the beers and soft drinks are bottled in 18 models of different containers in eight production lines. In addition to supply the whole market of Goiás, the production of Annapolis is also distributed to the States of Minas Gerais, Tocantins, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará and the Federal District.
In addition to the brewery in Annapolis, Ambev has four direct distribution centres and eight resellers in Goiás. Statewide, the company employs directly about 1.1 million people. According to the FGV, for every job created in a brewery, 52 others are created throughout the production chain. By this calculation, the performance of Ambev in Goiás is responsible for creating more than 41 thousand indirect jobs in every State, where the company produced 744 million reais in taxes in 2014.
