Industry estimates up to 7.7% increase in the price of medicines

Medicines with Government-controlled prices are expected to have an increase between 5% and 7.7%, according to the category they belong to.
The values, which are worth from day 31, were calculated by industry on the basis of factors disclosed on Thursday by the Board of market regulation of Medicines (CMED).
Official rates should be announced by the Government in the coming days, but hardly should vary in relation to calculated values now by the productive sector.
CMED rules apply to about 20 thousand items in the pharmaceutical market, as antibiotics.
Products with high market competition, herbal remedies and homeopathic medicinal products are not subject to these values.
For this group, the price may vary according to the manufacturer's determination.
The CMED determines three adjustment ranges, according to the competition faced by the product on the market. The greater the competition, the greater the percentage allowed for adjustment.
Industry calculations, for drugs with this profile, the readjustment will be allowed a maximum of 7.7%.
The intermediate level, therapeutic classes of drugs considered to be median, increased competition will be 6.35%.
For those more focused-formed by remedies that are still patent-protected, such as those used in cancer treatment, the maximum percentage increase will be 5%.
The percentages are well above what the authorized last year. In 2014, the maximum increase was 5.68%.
In the intermediate class, the readjustment granted was 3.35% and the lowest, of 1.02%.
Layoffs despite larger than last year, the productive sector says the percentages and not replace the losses and threatening layoffs in the sector if proposed changes suggested by the Government in Congress for exemption of payroll are not carried out.
The President of the syndicate of Pharmaceutical Industry of São Paulo (Sindusfarma), Nelson Mussolini, assesses that, if nothing is done, the cuts start from May.
"Since 2008, the price adjustment is not enough to replenish our losses," he said. "The situation was manageable. But with the rise of the dollar, and the reduction of the energy market, the panorama has changed, "he added.
In addition to the change in policy of payroll taxation, Mussolini cited the wage bargaining with the category in the next few months as another factor that can increase the pressure on costs.
The President of the Sindusfarma States that the expansion of the consumer market suffered a reduction in very significant pace in recent months.
"From January to December, the growth had been 13%. The growth in the period between February last year and this year, however, fell 8%, "he said.
"We don't want to quit, but if there is tax on payroll and if there is no understanding of industry workers at the time of negotiation of the rate increase, we will have to resign."
