Consumers want greater variety of healthy items in supermarkets

Survey conducted by Mintel shows that nearly a third, 30 percent, of the Brazilians who consume healthy products would like to see a greater variety of products available in supermarkets.
The survey also shows that 60% of Brazilians are trying to stay in shape doing physical exercises or playing sports. Completing this quest for a healthier lifestyle, 41% claim that at least half of the "dish" in meals is dedicated to Greens and/or vegetables.
"Feeding habits in Brazil are changing drastically and consumers increasingly choose what they will eat and drink thinking that will lead them to a healthier lifestyle in the long run. However, in comparison with other countries, like the United States, the Brazilian market presents several opportunities that can still be exploited, which represents a market opportunity for many companies, "explains Naira Sato, expert of the categories of food and Drink, of Mintel, in Brazil.
The Brazilians also fight against the lack of time as they seek quality and food you do well to them. For example, 20% of people who consume healthy products agree with the statement: "I wish they would have more options for healthy eating easy to be prepared (such as frozen dinners ready, pre-cooked meals etc)". In addition, 41% say they prefer fresh/prepared foods made on time. That number rises to 54% when are reviewed only the Brazilians with over 55 years of age.
Second Naira as consumer behavior changes, companies that invest in items that combine practicality, quality and Healthfulness are an advantage in the current Brazilian food and beverage market.
