Sale of hygiene and cosmetics have fall of 6.7% in the year

Sales of cosmetics and hygiene items had 6.7% real fall from January to September over a year earlier, the survey shows the Brazilian toiletry, perfumery and cosmetics (ABIHPEC). In a statement released yesterday, the Association points out that the retraction, which represents the first recorded by the sector in 23 years, is caused by factors such as "political and economic instability in which Brazil has passed; the Government's decision, taken earlier this year, passing the charge the tax on industrialized products (IPI) also the distributors of cosmetics; the retraction of consumer purchasing power and the water crisis, which also impacted on the sale of items of personal hygiene ". The survey also highlights that sector kept stability in the level of employment until May. But starting in June, the drop in revenues caused by increased tax burden began to impact the generation of vacancies. In the third quarter, this sector cut 4.1% of jobs compared with the same period in 2014. According to ABIHPEC, between 2011 and 2014 there was a growth in direct job of 8.3%.
