Weener strengthens in South America

Germany-based Weener Plastic Packaging Group has acquired the shares of its joint venture partner Globalpack and now has a 100 per cent stake in Weener Plastic Industry Globalpack Ltda in Brazil, with the company being renamed Weener Plastic Industry Ltd. The acquisition is part of a global expansion strategy.
Weener has also acquired the additional injection and extrusion moulding business, including the related assembly and decoration operations at Globalpack's Sao Paolo facility. For this operation, the new company has been established named Brazil Weener plastic packaging industry and Commerce Ltda.
Arnaldo Count has been appointed managing director of the two companies. He added: "Weener has created a strategic opportunity by bringing its expertise and innovation leadership to the rapidly growing Brazilian market. We can focus on existing and new Brazilian customers whilst strengthening our offerings to deliver even greater value. "
