Production of beer grows 4.3% in 2014, showed the Sicobe

The Brazilian production of beer ended 2014 with a growth of 4.3% in comparison to 2013. According to data from the control System for the production of beverages (Sicobe), internal revenue service, beverage manufacturing totaled 14.046 billion litres from January to December last year, compared with 13.470 billion gallons produced during the previous period. The positive result reverses the fall of 2% recorded in 2013. The expansion of 4.3%, however, was below industry estimates. The expectation of the Associação Brasileira da Indústria da Beer (CervBrasil) was an annual growth of 5.1%. The lower than expected performance can be explained by the fall in production in the last month of the year. In December, the production of beer totaled 1.405 billion liters, volume 5.1% lower than the 1.481 billion gallons produced in the same month in 2013.
In 2014, the Brewer of the country benefited industry, especially for the World Cup, the Carnival and the late high temperatures. For 2015, the expectation of CervBrasil is maintenance of the volume produced, despite the macroeconomic scenario more difficult. "We expect a scenario production stability with growth opportunities," says, in a statement, the President of the entity, Paolo Petroni.
