Group will invest in a refrigerator for $ 450 mi in Paraná

The Frimesa, which brings together five agricultural cooperatives of Parana, will build a new refrigerator for slaughter and processing of pigs. The first stage, which will receive a contribution of $ 450 million, will have the works started in the last quarter of this year, with a capacity for 7,000 heads per day.
The unit will be in the city of Assis Chateaubriand, in Western Paraná, 575 kilometers of Curitiba. "Our fridge renders today's 6,500 daily and heads with the capacity 100% busy," says Executive Director, Prajakta Zydek.
Of the total to be applied in the project, 30% are of own resources and the rest will come from financing from BNDES. The works should be completed in about three years.
The cooperative already has plans for a second step in the sequence, which would consume more $ 300 million and would double the capacity of the site. The contribution, however, will depend on the evolution of the market and the economic scenario.
Last year, despite the difficulties of retail, managed to expand its billing Frimesa in 20%, in comparison to 2013. The goal was to earn $ 1.85 billion in 2014, but the value has reached $ 2 billion. "Our beef segment sales remained at a good level," says Zydek. "The dairy came well until September, but, in the last quarter, production was greater than the consumption, which caused prices to fall."
The Frimesa industrializes the raw material from producers of cooperatives Copagril, Lar, c. Vale, Copacol and Primato. The group now has five production plants: one of four pigs and dairying. The South leads sales (65%), followed by the Midwest (25 percent).
