Brazil produced 5% more beer in 2014, says the CervBrasil

The Brazilian production of beer reached 14.1 billion liters in 2014, volume 5% greater than the TAC of the preceding year, according to Associação Brasileira da Indústria da Beer (CervBrasil), on the basis of consolidated data from the Control system for the production of beverages (Sicobe), the internal revenue service. In December, production of drinks totaled about 1.5 billion litres, growth of 0.9 percent compared to December 2013. In comparison with November 2014, the increase was 1.3%. Also according to the CervBrasil, the beer inflation measured by the consumer price index (IPCA)-extensive accumulated high of 9.7% in the year, staying above the index of food and beverages, which was 8%, and the national consumer price index (IPCA) Wide General, which reached 6.4%.
For 2015, the expectation is of a maintenance of volumes produced last year. According to the Association, despite a difficult macroeconomic scenario, the increase in interest this year must reflect on credit-dependent products, which could mean a good opportunity for products such as food and beverages.
