President of GE predicts close merger with Alstom in early 2015

The merger agreement between General Electric (GE) and Alstom can be implemented early next year, said the President of the American company, Jeffrey Immelt.
In a joint interview with the President of Alstom, Patrick Kron, the French weekly Le Journal Du Dimanche, Immelt said that the Alstom brand would be retained, depending on the product.
The Alstom's Board accepted yesterday the improved offer from GE for its equipment for the energy sector, ending a two-month competition for the Energy Division of the French group.
Alstom must sell its gas turbines business, most of the energy equipment unit, to the American company and House the French part of the steam turbines and nuclear, renewable energy and network equipment in 50-50 joint ventures with GE.
"GE has operational control and the management team come from Alstom. Governance is very clear, "Immelt added.
After the operation, Alstom will buy GE's rail signalling business and merge it with its own insurance unit, which manufactures the French bullet trains.
"I'll follow the transition phase and assemble the new Alstom. This will take some time. Later, a new team will take on, "said Kron in the interview, when asked about his future.
