83% of Brazilians use credit cards

In Brazil, 83% of consumers use credit cards and 23% of them make at least one purchase splitted per month. A Happy Pocket portal search of SPC Serasa traced the usage profile by Brazilians and identified that only one-third know the interest paid. The Group researched points to safety as the main advantage of this means of payment, while the loss of control is seen as the main risk.
Among those interviewed 57% use the revolving credit frequently. The interest on this service may reach 200% per annum and are unknown by 77% of users. The survey draws attention also to the habit of asking the credit card loan to relatives and friends. Among people who do not have this means of payment, about 43% use the third-party credit. The practice is most common among young people, who represent 53% of those who resort to the practice, followed by women, with 48% of the total.
