Disclosed the contents of annual readjustment of prices of medicines for 2014

The pharmaceutical industry continues to undergo strong cost pressures and will not be able to restore full production expenses increase because the Government once again applied in calculation formula a productivity factor that reduces the indexes.
This situation, which repeats since 2011, worries the pharmaceutical industry Union in the State of São Paulo (Sindusfarma), as it has affected the financial health of businesses and compromised their profitability, with negative effects on investment and the launch of new products.
The weighted average rate authorized by the Government is 3.52%, compared to an average increase of costs of production of 13% to 18% last year, mainly on personnel, supplies and raw materials (mainly imported, who suffered the impact of exchange rate variations that amounted to dollar exchange rate of $ 1.92 to $ 2.42 approximately in the last 12 months).
In the period from 2006 to 2013, while general inflation accumulated was 49.13% (INPC/IBGE), and the wage increases granted by the sector totaled 67.77%, the price adjustment for medicines was much below these heights, adding 35.76% on average.
