Copel's net profit grows 53 percent in 2013, to $ 1.072 billion

SAO PAULO-the Companhia Paranaense de Energia (Copel) recorded net income of r $ 1.072 billion in 2013, up from 53.0% on net income of R $ 700,688 million in 2012, according to consolidated income statement released late on Monday. The net result is considered attributable to shareholders of parent company, basis for the distribution of dividends.
According to the statement, available on the website of the Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM), Copel's net revenue was r $ 9,180 billion in 2013, up from $ 8,493 billion the previous year, at high of 8.0%.
The cost of the service in 2013 reached r $ 7,037 billion, compared to R $ 6,540 billion in 2012, a breakthrough of 7.5%.
Gross profit in 2013 reached r $ 2,142 billion, compared to R $ 1952 billion the previous year, a growth of 9.7%.
Copel's operating expenditure in 2013 were $ 916,023 million, compared to operating expenses of R $ 953,438 million in 2012, a reduction of 3.9%.
The company's operating profit in 2013 was r $ 1,226 billion, a growth of 22.7% over the r $ 999,178 million recorded in the previous year.
Copel recorded net financial income of R $ 280,311 million in 2013, reversing handily net financial expense of R $ 26,650 million the previous year.
