Coca-Cola Brazil launches green technology packages across the Board Del Valle

Coca-Cola Brazil gives one more step towards sustainability and becomes a pioneer in use of packaging produced with green polyethylene by Tetra Pak. The news hits the market in March, throughout Brazil. Soon, green technology will be available in the complete portfolio of cartons of Coca-Cola Brazil. In the new packaging solutions, the layers of conventional polyethylene, manufactured from oil, are replaced by the polyethylene based on sugar cane, which is renewed in a natural way, without running out. Thus, the line Del Valle will use up 78% of materials from renewable sources in their packaging. The use of these materials also contributes to reducing by as much as 22% of greenhouse gas emissions, through CO2 absorption from the atmosphere during the process of plant growth.
"Tetra Pak has been characterized for its expertise and leadership in renewable sources. The new packaging with green technology is part of it. Our participation in this innovative process, via Del Valle, is also the result of environmental vision that is already incorporated into the DNA of Coca-Cola. The agreement will be decisive to get closer to our goal of having 100% of our packaging with more sustainable processes until 2020, "says Xiemar Zarazúa, President of Coca-Cola Brazil.
According to Paulo Nigro, President of Tetra Pak in Brazil the use of polyethylene from sugar cane in the protective layers of packaging is another important step in pursuit of the goal of offering 100% renewable solution. "With this announcement, Tetra Pak reinforces the commitment to the environment and future generations to work for a healthier planet and sustainable", supplementing the Executive.
