BRAZIL: SUPERMARKETS GROW 5.5%

Retail supermarkets in Brazil won R $ 272,2 billion last year, real growth of 5.5 percent, according to the survey Ranking Open 2014, made by the Brazilian Association of Supermarkets (Open). The GPA led the raking in revenues when grew 12.5%, to R $ 64.4 billion, followed by the French retailer Carrefour with high of 8.1% in gross revenue, with $ 34 billion. Walmart was discharged from 9.8% to r $ 28.5 billion occupying the third position, followed by Chilean Cencosud, in fourth place, which grew 1% to $ 9.8 billion. Already the Zaffari outperformed the GPA in growth rate, whose gross revenue rose 13.9% reaching r $ 3.8 billion in 2013.
