Brazil and Indonesia meet to discuss litigation of chicken

The ABPA, an association that represents the industry of chicken and swine, reported on Monday that a Brazilian delegation will meet today and tomorrow in Geneva with Indonesian representatives in the context of litigation that the Brazilian Government has moved on World Trade Organization (WTO) against Indonesia because of trade barriers that Asian country imposes on exports of chicken meat.
According to the ABPA, the meetings represent the first phase of the litigation. This is a phase of consultations, in which Brazil will make inquiries about the fulfillment of Indonesia to the General Agreement on tariffs and trade (GATT), Agriculture agreements, import licensing, sanitary and phytosanitary barriers and technical barriers to trade agreement and Preshipment.
"There are at least six years the ABPA in negotiating, along with the Brazilian Government, the opening of the Indonesian market. Various missions have already been promoted, with the delivery of several documents questioning not opening. However, there was no response by the Government of the Asian country, "he said, in a statement, the Chief Executive of ABPA, Francisco Turra.
In assessing the ABPA, the Indonesia represents a "great potential" for the Brazil market. In the meetings, the entity will be represented by Marília Rangel, the ABPA, Coordinator of foreign markets.
