Supermarkets record growth below the expected end-of-year parties

Even without having the final balance of the holidays, Christmas and new year 's, the supermarket sector already registers a growth of only 6.5% in sales compared to the same period in 2012. The numbers could have been even more significant, however, inflation that hit the country's economy has impacted directly on the stability of product prices and, consequently, sales of the same. It is worth mentioning that there are wide variations between the Christmas and new year sales, whose most significant difference between the dates is related to high sales of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks on new year's Eve. As it does every year to serve as a thermometer on the market, the São Paulo supermarket Association (APAS) prepares the dissemination of their research from sales of 2013, which takes into consideration the holidays. The final analysis of the data should be ready from day on January 20, the date on which the real numbers will be reported to the press. On occasion, will be published also the index of consumer confidence related to December 2013.
