Kia's sales will grow more than Toyotas in 2014, drawn by China

The South Korean carmaker Kia Motors said Friday that it expects its sales to grow faster than those of rival Toyota this year, although the combination of a strong won and a weak yen will put pressure on their results.
The company said that global retail sales will grow 6 percent to 2.9 million vehicles, driven by China and United States.
Toyota said on Thursday that its global sales in retail will grow 4 percent to 10.32 million vehicles this year, surpassing 10 million units for the first time as a weaker Yen ensures the company a competitive advantage abroad.
Kia Motors said it aims to increase its sales in China at 15 percent this year, to 630 thousand vehicles, aided by the operation of its third factory in the country and the planned launch of a new sedan.
The Kia said sales in the u.s. will grow by 9 percent over the previous year, to 585 thousand vehicles, while sales in South Korea will rise 5 percent to 480 thousand.
The South Korean automaker's domestic market will be driven by the launch of versions completely revitalised the Carnival minivan and Sorento sport utility this year.
